Program Supervisor

POSITION SUMMARY: To supervise all aspects of the assigned residence and other residences as needed. To ensure that the residents needs are met by actively supervising residential staff in their completion of assigned duties and establish unit routines.

 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervises residential living staff and/or certified nursing assistants in their completion of assigned duties and establishes building routines
  • Provides recommendations in recruiting, interviewing and selecting new staff
  • Based on analysis of client needs within the unit, directs staff in the development, implementation and evaluation of programs designed to meet these needs
  • Assists in unit compliance with regulatory standards through physical program review, process review and input, staff training and follow-up on deficiencies
  • Ensures appropriate maintenance of the assigned vehicle and client areas, adhering to the established building and vehicle maintenance routines and health and safety standards
  • Interprets program objectives and policies to staff, residents, family, and staff
  • Informs Unit Director and Associate Director of all pertinent information and serves as liaison between Unit Director, Residential Living Staff, residents, community and interdisciplinary team
  • Reconciles staffing concerns explaining and enforcing Elwyn policies, and initiating appropriate disciplinary actions in accordance with Elwyn policies
  • Prioritizes responsibilities with evidence of appropriate planning and time management
  • Provides written evaluation of staff according to agency policies and building procedures
  • Ensures building ratios are met, providing coverage for supervision of individuals and any related direct care responsibilities when needed
  • Provides instruction and assistance to staff as they carry out programs in all activities of daily living skills, problem solving skills, decision making skills, proactive supervision and active engagement of residents
  • Performs cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), first aid and crisis intervention as needed in accordance with agency trained protocols
  • Participates in Elwyn Committees or sub-committees as required
  • Reviews all updated written policies and procedures of the department and communicates changes to assigned staff on an ongoing basis
  • Ensures quality standards and organizational and departmental goals and objectives are met in accordance with the Elwyn policies and procedures
  • Attends and facilitates staff meetings, unit meetings, in-services and continuing education programs as needed
  • Maintains an open door policy and encourages feedback
  • Consults with and advises administrative personnel of situations requiring follow up or specific attention
  • Utilizes and monitors a fiscal plan within budget parameters
  • Collaborates with union leadership to ensure contract compliance
  • Performs other duties as assigned

 IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Unit Director/Associate Director

 DIRECT REPORTS: Residential Living Staff

 CONTACTS: Elwyn personnel, Elwyn residents, funding and regulatory personnel, parents and visitors

 EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School diploma or equivalency; post-secondary education in human service field preferred
  • Five (5) years' experience working with people with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities; post-secondary education in human service field may be substituted for equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated ability to independently solve problems in a creative, consistent manner
  • Demonstrated good judgment through cost-conscious awareness
  • Demonstrated knowledge of when to seek/solicit help or guidance from immediate supervisor or appropriate resource person
  • Ability to performs duties in an independent manner, with little or no need for direct supervision
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Must be able to perform and maintain certification of CPR and crisis intervention techniques using agency-trained protocols
  • Must possess excellent customer interaction, collaboration, presentation, and written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated basic, experience with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Experience using/knowledge of Electronic Medical Record (EMR)preferred
  • Must have current, valid driver's license in state of residence, three (3) years driving experience in the United States, and acceptable driving record

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
